Explaining Nutrition to Kids


Healthy KidsGetting your kids to eat healthy foods can be a real challenge for many parents. No matter how many times they put something healthy in front of them to eat, they just leave it and say they don’t like it. Even if they have never even tried it! As much as your try explaining nutrition to kids and how important it is, they just don’t seem to understand. Or if they do, they just choose not to take notice.

So what can you do?

Well the first thing to do is probably not make a big deal out of it to your kids. They will always try and rebel if you tell them what to do. So don’t force them to eat something because they will either not do it or it will make them frustrated when doing so.

What you can do instead is start giving them some healthy ingredients in their foods, even if you have to do it without telling them. There are many ways you can do this. You can start adding garnishes to meals of certain vegetables that they will eat. Or you can even chop up vegetables really fine and add them to their meals. Kids usually put lots of sauces onto their foods, so they probably won’t even notice the difference.

Fruits are something that should be easy for you to introduce. Most kids like fruits anyway but giving them a variety will get more nutrients into them. So make fruit cocktails or fruit smoothies with several different fruits.

Of course you should try explaining nutrition to kids first but if they just don’t get it, then you can try introducing these new ways of getting them to eat healthily foods with each meal. That way everyone will be happy and eating meals will be less stressful.
