Nutrition Tips for Kids

How to Raise Healthy KidsGetting young children to eat healthy foods can seem like an uphill battle sometimes. There are so many adverts on TV for unhealthy snacks that they see everyday and of course want to have them. Then you have all the nicely packaged and appealing (but unhealthy) snacks and processed foods in the grocery store that kids want too because they look appealing to them. So how do you teach nutrition tips for kids who are constantly distracted by shiny bright boxes of food and TV adverts with cartoon characters advertising how good a snack is?

Well fortunately there are several simple ways you can get your kids eating healthy foods without making a big deal out of it. The first thing is to make sure they are eating foods from each food group. There should be 2-3 items from the 5 food groups in every meal. This is very important.

Another tip which works well is getting them involved in preparing the foods. This makes meal time’s fun as they can enjoy getting the food ready and then eating it. It also brings you closer together as a parent and child. You can even get them to invent their own meal, which of course will be filled with healthy ingredients.

You must have patience too and if they refuse to eat something, keep on trying. Don’t just dismiss the food and never offer it to them again. Try it more than once and you may be surprised how many of them will actually eat it and realise they do enjoy the taste.

Nutrition tips for kids who are fussy eaters is all about trying different ways to get them to eat healthy foods. Never force them because that will never work long term and they will look for other foods which may be unhealthy.
