I need a fattening diet for my cat so I can eat her later?

JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!

Seriously though.. I need a fattening diet for her.

She suffered a severe allergic reaction to fleas recently and lost 2 lbs. She was 8.2lbs in June when she went to the vet the first time, and now she’s 6.8lbs as of the vet trip yesterday.

The vet gave me tips and recommended about 6 different foods, but I already don’t like commercial cat food and would like to try actual food on her.

She’s on revolution, received CapStar at the vet and received …. Melantonin? not sure if that is right but from memory that’s what it sounded like the vet said.

Anyway, what are healthy diet plans for her to help her gain weight?

Thanks.

vegan diet for hyperthyroidism?

This may sound crazy, but I’m considering going vegan even though I absolutely hate the idea of it. I heart steak and cream sauces and eggs and all of those things. However, I love my kids more.

A little backstory. My thyroid has been hyperactive for years. I’ve never had to take medication for it, it’s never been severe. Unfortunately, it’s gotten worse- and I’m 12 weeks pregnant. It’s also possibly begun to affect my heart- I’m experiencing palpitations and rapid, strong heartbeats. This may be related to a vitamin D deficiency I’m experiencing, but irregardless, my endocrinologist wants me to go on both Taprazole and Propranolol.

These are class D and C drugs, respectively. The class C Propranolol, a beta blocker, has been linked to heart and lung problems in babies. Taprazole, which is class D, has been linked to deformities such as pieces of skin missing from the baby’s scalp, and possibly as severe as the brain failing to develop in areas. Either could possibly lead to me losing my baby. My baby comes first- I’ll refuse the medication as long as it won’t kill me. Of course, I don’t want to end up with heart damage, and hyperthyroidism is dangerous in itself in pregnancy.

I’ve read that a vegan diet may (or may not) be beneficial for hyperthyroid patients. I haven’t read anything that would indicate a problem with beef or poultry- it seems that mainly dairy, eggs, and seafood are the biggest problems. However, I have heard that soy may help decrease my levels. Of course, I’ve also heard the opposite- quite a bit of debate out there.

I’m willing to do anything to take care of my baby. She’s my priority. But how do you go vegan when you’re not really that interested in it? Especially when you’ve got to cook for a family that loves their meat, dairy, and eggs? My twin is vegan, and she seriously only eats tofu or tempeh in a stir-fry, unless it’s a salad or a microwavable meal (like Amy’s, etc.) I am pregnant. This will not work for a pregnant woman (honestly, I don’t know how it works for her, but she really can’t cook).

I hate soy milk. Same for soy cheese and yogurt (only soy things I’ve tried). I do love tofu and tempeh, although I haven’t had them in many different ways. So what in the heck am I supposed to eat?

On top of that, weight loss is not a good thing in pregnancy, period. I’m overweight, and I’m very concerned that such a change in diet, combined with my thyroid being hyperactive, may spur weight loss. What can I do to avoid this?

Don’t get me wrong, if going by this diet is really life-altering, I’ll stay with it even after having the baby. I just know myself- if I obligate myself, I’ll fight it more.

I’m honestly rather desperate- I wasn’t supposed to be able to have children, and this will be my second (and final, considering the health issues in play). Needless to say, I can’t do anything else but make her my priority. Obviously, I want to still be around to take care of my children, but if it would ever come down to a choice, it’s my child, period. I don’t care if they’re 12 weeks old or I’m just 12 weeks pregnant- unless there’s no way to save them, I will choose them, so that option is not on the table.

Does anyone have any advice, tips, anything? Has anyone else had any success with a vegan diet helping hyperthyroidism? How can I have a healthy pregnancy on a vegan diet? Should I consider any other options first or in conjunction? Any help is appreciated.

Overweight stressed out mom needs diet tips. Can you motivate me?

I work full time and the kids and I dont get home until about 6 to 6:30 pm. My husband always wants a big meal at dinner. Coming from a hispanic culture, I make high fat foods such as tacos with flour tortillas, fajitas, carne guisada, menudo, chicken in mole, enchiladas, spanish rice, charro beans and I am sure you get the picture. I normaly eat chips while I wait for dinner. Dinner time is usually at about 8 thru 9. I dont have time to exercise and my kids and my husband dont help. They dont do the housework to help me finish early. They walk all over me and I have brought it to thier attention about twice a day and the just shrug me off and continue to do thier own thing. I am the last one to go to bed, usualy at about midnight and then I get up at 6 am. I am in a rut and want to do things for myself. I always put everyone first before me. I eat ehat every one else eats at home. I am always on a budget so it is very hard for me to shop healthy. I never stay motivated enough. I need someone out there to help me come up with an easy to follow menu that I can do on a weekly basis or if you know of any websites, I would appreciate it. I am 5’1 and weigh 150 pounds. This is what I weighed at 9 months pregnant with my last child! I need to know that I can do this and I have no one to motivate me at home.

Compare my family’s diet with yours?

My friend commented yesterday on how thin my family is. I am a wife and the mother of two sons with a baby girl on the way. My husband is 130 and 6’0, i myself am 100 and 5’6, my two sons are 8 and 10, and they weight 40 and 60 pounds respectively.

Each day we keep very stringent guidelines of what we consume, when we consume it, how we feel when we consume it, and even when we defecate it. Apparently this is not normal? It’s a good writing exercise for the boys and we like to stay healthy. My husband eats 1500 calories a day, I eat 1000, and the boys eat 800 and 1000 (we add another 100 calories to their diets at each birthday).

We do not allow grains, meats, or dairy products in our home. This keeps the kids in tip top shape and the environment isnt harmed either. The kids know they CAN eat whatever they want when they’re at their friends’ homes, but they choose to keep our guidelines.

How does your family’s diet compared to ours? What can you do to improve and be more like us?

How do you keep a healthy diet without your hair falling out?

I was trying to loose weight a few months ago and finally reached half of my goal- which is loosing about 10-15 pounds and get my tummy toned. I already lost the weight that I wanted to so I’m not trying to loose weight now. I had a baby in May and at the same time that I was trying to loose weight my hair started falling out- I have 4 children & I never had a hair loss problem before until now- I had asked a question about hair loss before and I thought it was maybe because I had a kid & sometimes hair loss is expected- OK fine, my baby’s 7 mo. now. It seems like ever since I lost weight my hair has gotten weaker- & loose handfulls at times. I’m eating the right foods so I know is not that. I feel healthier but my hair is stressed out. Any tips anyone can help me with? Maybe home remedies to make my hair stronger and so it can grow? Or perhaps maybe something thats good for hair loss? I rather much would appreaciate home remedies. I really dont want to take any prescriptions. Thanks.

Is my diet healthy? Why isn’t my lower stomach fat coming off?

Here’s my body right now: my height is 5’3″ and I’m 17. I weigh 113 pounds….. before I started working out I was 104 pounds but with a HUGE stomach….. i’m trying to tone up and look really cut and get a rock hard body….. but my stomach Fat is NOT coming off >:(

Here is my diet:
I eat about 1,800 – 2,000 calories per day of completely healthy foods. Lots of cold water, soymilk, fruits, veggies, salmon, tuna, eggs, cheese, peanut butter, etc. I’m a pescetarian (meaning I only eat fish and dairy, but NO meat!) and I also eat gluten-free because I have celiac disease. Sometimes I have a “cheat treat” about once a week that contains gluten in it (such as a bag of sour patch kids or ice cream) even though i’m not supposed to have it….. my symptoms come back for about a day and i’m in a lot of pain and then it’s gone… haha

Exercise Routine: I exercise 6-7 days a week and I workout for a MINIMUM of 8 hours a week……. I weight train with a personal trainer 4 times a week for 30 minutes and I do an hour of cardio at LEAST 6 days a week…… sometimes I take Sundays off if I’m too tired but sometimes I’ll get an hour of cardio in everyday for 7 days a week…. I do either the elliptical for an hour, jog on the treadmill for an hour, or do 30 minutes of each…… If I do both I’ll run 3 miles in 30 minutes… but if I jog for an hour I’ll run 5 miles at a steady and comfortable pace…… is this enough??? any tips??? i’m trying to flatten my stomach and it’s still not flat??? i’ve been doing this exercise/diet regimen for 3 and a 1/2 months already !!!

Can you advise me on a healthy, but easy diet for a child with a heart problem?

My sister (7 years old) was born with a uni-ventrical heart (she was missing the whole left chamber of her heart), so they reconstructed it. Anyway I’d like some tips on some healthy meals and snacks that we could prepare for her, things that would be easy on her heart (light) and keep her alive and well for a long time. Also things that are reasonably cheap, tasty for a little kid and easy to make. Please, need your help, she seriously needs to eat a little better. Thanx in advance!!!
