Obesity Kids – Severe Diabetes Risk

Obesity Risk

At a recent American Heart Association’s annual scientific session held in New Orleans, scientists informed the gathering that many obese kids and teenagers have been tested and the results have shown that their carotid walls are almost same as those of a person who is nearly 30 years older than them.

As per American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), occurrence of obesity in kids and adults is a rapidly increasing epidemic with around 15 to 30 percent kids and adults being obese.

There could be many factors which may result in the obesity among the children in USA as per AACAP including the ones described below:

* Unhealthy eating habits

* Habit of overeating

* Lack of any physical activity

* Sometimes due to family history, genetics

* Steroids and some medications like psychiatric medications.

* Life full of stress and cultural factors like child abuse or deaths

* Emotional problems including depression.

The AACAP has further reported that kids who turn obese between 10 to 13 years of age have about 70 percent chance to turn obese adults.

There are many risk factors and complications which may result due to obesity among children like:

* High risk of heart disease.

* Having breathing difficulties.

* Increased blood pressure

* Having difficulties in sleep

* Risk of diabetes

As type 2 diabetes is being increasingly found in children, it is necessary that proper treatment is offered after accurate diagnosis to stop any further complication in them. Proper diet and exercise regime should be implemented for their health benefit. Make sure to bring your kid to your doctor if you have any inclination he or she has symptoms of diabetes.

I’m eating out for breakfast tommorow, what’s my healthiest option you think?

Tommorow I’m going out for breakfast and although I’m going to workout beforehand, I’m worried about what to order. I know I’ll probably be munching later too since it’s New Year’s Eve so I’m trying my best to figure out what is the smartest decision in advance. Any ideas/tips/suggestions?

I was thinking of ordering off the kids menu f I can’t resist waffles, or substitute for egg whites or get a side of oatmeal to fill me up instead of bacon or whatever but I’m really not sure. Is it better to get pancakes or waffles? I’m not a huge omelette person so… HELPP haha :)

ps…I know this seems like something dumb to stress over but i’d really appreciate it if you’d humor me anyways!

Have you changed your eating habits for the better?

How’s it working out for you? I changed to a high fiber high protein diet. I want to be healthy and I want my kids to be too..BUT it’s so hard! Any tips to make it any easier? Mostly with the junk food cravings
Im trying to stay away from animal based protein. I cut out red meat all together.

Going to start eating healthier. I need some tips/advice!?

I want to make some major changes to my diet. I am a 24 year old mother of 2, so I don’t have a lot of time to exercise because of my kids. My husband is in the military so he isn’t here to watch them while I work out, etc. BUT I do what I can, walking, sit ups…But, I at least want eat better food.

Not a crazy diet or anything, but make some changes.
Questions:
Is brown rice really better than white rice?
3 meals a day, or 5 small meals?

If I had, say, a bowl of Special K cereal for breakfast with some 2%, 1% milk. Then plain tuna for lunch with some fresh fruit or similar and brown rice, veggies and some type of meat for dinner…is that a good plan? And snacks would be things like fruit, low fat cottage cheese…
I also plan on drinking a ton of water and 100% cranberry juice as I drink it for my frequent UTI’s.
And cutting junk food almost completely out.

Does anyone have any advice? If I follow that type of eating, with walking/jogging several times a week will I lose weight?

I want to lose about 10-15lbs.

Any and all tips/advice is very welcome and appriceated! Thank you!
