DAYTON — Miami Valley children are far more overweight or obese than they were just three years ago, though their parents often don’t think they’re fat, according to a report released today by the Children’s Medical Center of Dayton.The survey of 654 parents of children ages 14 and under showed 37 percent of children are overweight or obese, up from 24 percent in 2008 and 31 percent in 2005.
