Obesity Kids – Severe Diabetes Risk

Obesity Risk

At a recent American Heart Association’s annual scientific session held in New Orleans, scientists informed the gathering that many obese kids and teenagers have been tested and the results have shown that their carotid walls are almost same as those of a person who is nearly 30 years older than them.

As per American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), occurrence of obesity in kids and adults is a rapidly increasing epidemic with around 15 to 30 percent kids and adults being obese.

There could be many factors which may result in the obesity among the children in USA as per AACAP including the ones described below:

* Unhealthy eating habits

* Habit of overeating

* Lack of any physical activity

* Sometimes due to family history, genetics

* Steroids and some medications like psychiatric medications.

* Life full of stress and cultural factors like child abuse or deaths

* Emotional problems including depression.

The AACAP has further reported that kids who turn obese between 10 to 13 years of age have about 70 percent chance to turn obese adults.

There are many risk factors and complications which may result due to obesity among children like:

* High risk of heart disease.

* Having breathing difficulties.

* Increased blood pressure

* Having difficulties in sleep

* Risk of diabetes

As type 2 diabetes is being increasingly found in children, it is necessary that proper treatment is offered after accurate diagnosis to stop any further complication in them. Proper diet and exercise regime should be implemented for their health benefit. Make sure to bring your kid to your doctor if you have any inclination he or she has symptoms of diabetes.

I’ve gained a total of 81 in the course of 5 years, I want to lose now, any advice or tips for me to do this?

I’m 16 years old, 5’9, 241 pounds. I once was a healthy,130 pound, 5’4, happy, go-lucky kid. Always outside playing, running around. Then I was sent away to my grandma’s in Seattle, WA. Since then everything changed, my grandma made me eat everything on my plate she served three times the amount your supposed to eat and I couldn’t leave the table until I ate it all. She didn’t let me go outside much, so I started to become a couch potato and a procrastinator when I came back the next year I had gained a whopping 30 pounds! Ever since then I kept gaining and gaining to the place where I am at now. I don’t completely blame my grandma, I should have said something or done something so my diet wasn’t ruined… But the past is the past and now I’m suffering greatly from it. I’m pre-diabetic, obese, depressed, mild to severe acne, B.O, no energy (almost lethargic) extremely low self-esteem… I need help! I want this weight gone! I can’t do this alone, I need help! I don’t know what to do, I’m desperate!! I want to be that happy, healthy girl again before things went to the toilet! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Pregnant cat…. tips?

so this cat showed up bone thin and such a sweet thing, i thought it was a girl then about 2 weeks later, i looked again and it had what i was pretty sure was a boy, it still looks like a boy..anyways we put him in the house, such a sweetie, and fed him Evo, and he fattened up pretty quickly and was looking pretty healthy

she has to be PG, 3 weeks ago i was feding “him” and was like goodness your getting to be a chunky boy on this food, and was wondering if i shouldnt free fed him anymore… well a week later i picked him up and was like “Wow your tummy is tight like your PG” so i relooked still looked like a boy, and the rear leg nipples you could feel under his fur….

so i talked to the local cat rescue and they said boys you can feel there nipples like i just said

so a week goes by and he is HUGE, has a belly waddle from side to side when walking all nipples you can see when you flip him over…

also we have 1/2 walls he loves to walk across and our bathroom is a 1/2 wall that has a top on it so we have a loft like a attic hi use to jump up to the back of the lazy-boy up to a high dresser on to shelves above the dresser on to the 1/2 wall, walk the 1/2 wall jump the hall way space onto the part that acts as a attic, this last week shes only getting to the top o the shelves and laying there in her favorate nap spot, avoiding the 1/2 wall when she jumpes down she use to be so light you could barley hear her, now it sounds as if you dropped a bowling ball

Anyways… i made up a box in the bathroom closet its 1/2 the size o a bedroom closet pretty big (she sometimes like to nap in there) i lined it with blankes and put her in it… its int he same room as her food (back of the toilet) and her litter box, (on the floor)

im hopping she’ll nest there… she also refuse all wet food unless its EVO, so i havent been able to offer her any this last week (need to go to the store) but she eats EVO dry

anything eles i should do for her… do you think she’ll nest in the closet?? i really hope she avoids the loft, we have 2 dogs and 2 kids, the oldest is 2.5 years old… so the livingroom nooks are pretty noisy as is the bedroom,

advice’

and to any nastys, yes we we’re planing on getting him fixed, but vet wanted some wieght on him 1st and he didnt go outside, and actualy had a appt later this week for a weigh in to see if he was fit enough for fixing….

and even the vet said he looke like a young male… about 6mths age and we have had her almost 3mths

can cats be both sexes?? say have testes and a uterus??

anyways …advice
I did ask the Vet, he said it was a Boy, and we couldnt get him fixed, as he was to thin… he was bones when he showed up… so even the vet thought he was a HE,

i just advice on how to get her thor this PG the best way… have had dog litters, but all cats i ever had we’re fixed
you both are the stupid ones…. i KNOW how to tell… and even the VET said it was a boy…. so how does that make me stupid or a moron….
thank you debs&mollycat: the vet lifted the tail and looked stright on and the cats hind end, then flipped it over and pressed on the uritha (spelling, pee hole) and then said it was a boy… been dewormed and vet gave it a shot to kill of some parasites dont rember witch ones, and i administered cat shots for like lukima and 4 other vaccinations is the shot…

she seems to be eatting more, but shes very picky… wont eat any wet cept EVO and hasnt had that in weeks… eats Dry EVO, but dosnt want to eat let overs, want you to actualy pour some before it eats.. so it can have 1/2 a bowl but wont eat unless you clank 2-4 nibbles of food in… so not really over eating and yes eatting more then norm

Overweight stressed out mom needs diet tips. Can you motivate me?

I work full time and the kids and I dont get home until about 6 to 6:30 pm. My husband always wants a big meal at dinner. Coming from a hispanic culture, I make high fat foods such as tacos with flour tortillas, fajitas, carne guisada, menudo, chicken in mole, enchiladas, spanish rice, charro beans and I am sure you get the picture. I normaly eat chips while I wait for dinner. Dinner time is usually at about 8 thru 9. I dont have time to exercise and my kids and my husband dont help. They dont do the housework to help me finish early. They walk all over me and I have brought it to thier attention about twice a day and the just shrug me off and continue to do thier own thing. I am the last one to go to bed, usualy at about midnight and then I get up at 6 am. I am in a rut and want to do things for myself. I always put everyone first before me. I eat ehat every one else eats at home. I am always on a budget so it is very hard for me to shop healthy. I never stay motivated enough. I need someone out there to help me come up with an easy to follow menu that I can do on a weekly basis or if you know of any websites, I would appreciate it. I am 5’1 and weigh 150 pounds. This is what I weighed at 9 months pregnant with my last child! I need to know that I can do this and I have no one to motivate me at home.

Need tips about becoming vegetarian…?

I am going vegetarian! I am making my grocery list and I need help. Okay so every week my boyfriend gives me 100-120 bucks to get all the food we need for the week(its our grocery budget). I have to buy enough to feed my 2 kids and me and him. He eats meat and loves junk food, I am choosing to become vegetarian and not eat junk food/meat. I also am changing my kid’s diet to vegetarian as well since it is a much healthier lifestyle. They are young (ages 3&5) and they don’t really like meat anyway so it shouldn’t be a big deal for them. Anyway my problem is trying to balance what to get their dad and us. I actually think it will be better because not buying meat will cut cost quite a bit. Meat is expensive! I tried to tell him if he just went vegetarian we’d save more money which he always is trying to do lol but he wasn’t having it. So any tips would be great, some good websites with some great recipes, or maybe give me a sample grocery list of things to make sure to get. I think he will just be happy if I get him some pizzas and chips lol. Oh, I also was wondering if anyone could tell me how soy burgers and veggie burgers taste? Do they sell them at walmart or do I have to go to a grocery store? What types of food should i have every day and how much protein do I need? What are your thoughts about fish, too. I am considering keeping fish in my diet.

Thanks! :) )

BTW i always give 5 full stars to best answer!

What are the benefits of a vegan diet? Whats the down side? Will I need to take vitamins? What do I eat?

What are some great tips for weight loss and toning up? ?

I am 22 years old. I have 2 great children. With whom I gained weight during pregnancy and never worked to take it off. I am now way past the point where I can call it baby fat!
I was doing great back in august. I was biking approx 5 days a week with my kids in the trailer. On my ‘off’ days I was keeping up with walking. I was eating well and choosing some vegetarian dishes.
This was all in the month my husband was away working. Once I moved to the new town with him it all went away. We fight quite a bit and it really brings me down. After he goes to work after we have a fight I just want to run to the kitchen and break out the chocolate, chips, ice cream, cheese…you name it.
Anyway we are slowly working on our problems. I also think I have hit ‘rock bottom’ with my weight. It make me sick what I have done to my body. I am ready to change and bring back the real me!!

So to kick things off I am starting with a simple cleanse. Eating lots of fresh fruits, veg, lean protein, healthy fats and whole grains/ I have cut out dairy, red meat and the typical “crap” during these 5 days.
I am going to keep up the same thing after…just add back the dairy. I think i may say goodbye to red meat for good.
As for activity I have just been walking. I am thinking of joining a gym this week. We only have one in town so ill be going to check it out tomorrow!

I am 5’8 and 165lbs
