The first thing is their diet. If they are overweight then there is a good chance that they are consuming too many calories. Not just that but they probably aren’t eating the right foods and getting the nutrition that their bodies need. As they are growing there is no more important time to be eating all the types of nutrition that is recommended.
This is quite easy to do as you can make sure they are eating foods from each of the 5 food groups each day. If you can use a combination of all these food groups then you can be assured that they are at least getting most of the important nutrients.
Exercise is also just as important. If they have excess pounds then the only way to reduce it is to exercise and burn it off. Just 20 minutes a day is all it takes to get the body burning calories and reducing fat. This is best being done as cardio exercise as it gets the heart beating fast.
You can get involved as a parent too. Just take the kids and dog out for a walk or go for a bike ride to the park. You can even play some basketball in the yard. Anything to get out of breath and get the heart beating is enough.
